Plateau Government Warns Residents Against Blocking Jos-Barkin Ladi Highway After Kassa Attack

The Plateau State Government has warned residents against blocking the Jos-Barkin Ladi highway following an attack in Kassa, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, that reportedly left several people dead.

The government condemned the September 24 attack and appealed to residents of the affected community to remain calm while security agencies work to identify those responsible.

The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, September 25.

According to the statement, security agencies have commenced efforts to establish those behind the attack and take measures to prevent further incidents in the area.

The government specifically appealed to families and communities affected by the violence not to block the Jos-Barkin Ladi highway, warning that such action could expose motorists and other road users to danger.

“The road is clear and open to motorists and other road users,” the government said.

Residents were urged to continue with their lawful activities while remaining vigilant and cooperating with security agencies to maintain peace and support efforts to restore security.

The state government also called on traditional, religious and community leaders to work with authorities in maintaining calm in Kassa, Barkin Ladi and other communities considered vulnerable to attacks.
