Reginald Amadi Urges Catholic Youths to Take Active Roles in Politics, Rejects ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ Slogan

Imo State governorship aspirant, Dr. Reginald Uchenna Amadi, has urged Catholic youths to take active roles in politics and assume leadership responsibilities within their communities.

Amadi made the call while addressing more than 3,000 young people at Odenigbo Hall, located inside Assumpta Cathedral in Owerri, Imo State.

He urged young people to stop waiting for what he described as the “right time” before participating in governance, arguing that youths should take advantage of present opportunities to contribute to political and community development.

Amadi also criticised the popular expression that “youths are the leaders of tomorrow”, saying the slogan has encouraged young people to postpone their participation in leadership.

Instead, he told the gathering that youths should see themselves as leaders of today and become more involved in political processes and decision-making.

The governorship aspirant also challenged the saying that “the patient dog eats the fattest bone”, urging young people to abandon passive waiting and become proactive in pursuing leadership opportunities.

According to him, youths should not simply wait for opportunities to be handed to them but should actively position themselves to contribute to the development of their communities and the state.

Amadi expressed appreciation to the Archbishop of Owerri, His Grace, Reverend Dr. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, for organising the youth gathering.

He said greater understanding of the role young citizens can play in politics and governance was important to the political and social development of Imo State.

The engagement comes amid growing political activity in Imo State ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with Amadi among those seeking the governorship ticket.
