At least seven people have been killed and about 10 others injured after two unidentified gunmen opened fire inside Hammoud Church in Karak governorate, southern Jordan.
A security source disclosed the incident to state television on Friday, saying some of the injured victims were in critical condition.
According to the official Al-Mamlaka broadcaster, the gunmen entered the church and opened fire, killing at least seven people and wounding several others.
An eyewitness told Al-Mamlaka that a vehicle carrying the attackers arrived at the scene before they fired continuously for about five minutes and fled.
The witness said between 150 and 200 people were inside and around the church when the shooting occurred. Most of the victims were reportedly between 50 and 70 years old.
Minister of Government Communications Mohammed Al-Momani said security forces were investigating the incident.
Karak, located in southern Jordan, is home to a significant Christian community in the predominantly Muslim country.
