Sharon Adeleke Explains Why ‘Nepo Babies’ Aren’t Always Flush With Cash

Sharon Adeleke, sister of Nigerian singer Davido and daughter of billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke, has explained why children from wealthy families, often described as “Nepo babies”, may not have unlimited access to cash.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Moraya Show, Sharon said children of millionaires and billionaires generally have access to more opportunities and resources than the average person, but that does not necessarily mean they receive unlimited spending money.

According to her, wealthy parents may pay for their children’s education and provide assets such as land and properties, but the children are often expected to turn those assets into sources of income.

“A lot of Nepo babies don’t really have access to cash the way you guys make it seem. They have more than the average person, but they are always on a budget. Your school fees are paid, you are given land and properties, but you have to make use of them,” she said.

Sharon also disclosed that she regularly discusses finances with Davido, saying the two hold weekly meetings to review his spending.

“Me and Davido would sit and have a finance meeting every week because I think it is important for him to know how his money is being spent,” she said.

She added that she had advised the singer to reduce his spending on luxury cars.

Davido recently revealed during a livestream with streamer Davrel that he paid $11 million for a custom-made Bugatti, which he said was expected to be delivered to Nigeria.
