Supreme Court Directs Lawyers to Upload Court Processes via NCMS Before Hearings

ABUJA, Nigeria – The Supreme Court of Nigeria has directed all legal practitioners with matters scheduled for hearing between September and December 2026 to upload all relevant court processes through the Nigerian Case Management System (NCMS).

The directive was issued by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Eniola Akanbi, in compliance with Rule 10(1) of the Supreme Court Practice Direction, 2026.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, Akanbi outlined the procedures lawyers are expected to follow to access the list of appeals and motions slated for hearing during the period.

According to the statement, counsel must upload all relevant documents relating to their cases, including the record of appeal, briefs of argument, pending motions, and all other filed processes, no later than 30 days before the scheduled hearing date, as required under the Practice Direction.

The Chief Registrar urged legal practitioners to strictly comply with the directive, stressing that it is aimed at ensuring the seamless operation of the Nigerian Case Management System and improving the efficiency and timely determination of cases before the apex court.

The move forms part of the judiciary’s ongoing efforts to deepen the adoption of digital technology in court administration and case management.
