President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, for the high-level Africa-France Summit, where African leaders are expected to push fresh discussions on trade expansion, economic partnerships, climate resilience and infrastructure development across the continent.

The Nigerian leader landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly after midnight on Monday and was received by senior Kenyan officials, including Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, alongside diplomats from both countries.

The summit, jointly hosted by Kenyan President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron, has drawn heads of state, policymakers, investors and development partners from across Africa and Europe.

According to the Nigerian Presidency, Tinubu’s participation is aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic influence while deepening economic cooperation with African nations and international partners. The administration also views the summit as an opportunity to attract investment and expand strategic alliances tied to its economic reform agenda.

Discussions at the summit are expected to focus heavily on infrastructure financing, digital innovation, regional trade, food security, climate adaptation and industrial growth, with many African countries seeking stronger partnerships amid rising global economic uncertainty.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said the trip reflects Nigeria’s commitment to advancing African-led solutions to continental challenges while promoting sustainable development and economic integration.

Tinubu travelled with a high-powered delegation that includes Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of Agriculture Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Communications Bosun Tijani, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Jumoke Oduwole, and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola.

Also on the delegation are senior climate and investment officials expected to participate in side meetings focused on green financing, technology partnerships and investment opportunities tied to Nigeria’s economic diversification plans.

Tinubu is expected to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit as Nigeria seeks stronger cooperation on trade, investment, energy transition and regional security across Africa.
