Tinubu Urges Muslims to Embrace Prophet Muhammad’s Teachings as Nigeria Marks Eid-el-Maulu

President Bola Tinubu has urged Muslims across Nigeria to reflect on the teachings and virtues of Prophet Muhammad as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Maulud.

In a message issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the occasion as an opportunity for Muslims to go beyond commemorating the Prophet’s birth and draw practical lessons from his life.

The President encouraged Muslim faithful to make a conscious effort to uphold the values associated with Prophet Muhammad, including devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness.

“The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” Tinubu said.

He also called on Islamic and other religious leaders to use the celebration to pray for Nigeria and encourage their followers to apply the lessons of the Prophet’s life to their responsibilities as citizens.

Tinubu further urged Muslims marking the occasion to show compassion towards people in need and extend support to vulnerable members of society, in keeping with the spirit of the celebration.

The President also called for prayers against insecurity and other challenges confronting the country, as Nigerians continue to face concerns over safety and other national difficulties.

Eid-el-Maulud is observed by Muslims to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad. Tinubu’s message focused on using the occasion not only for celebration but also for personal reflection, compassion and a renewed commitment to the country.
