VeryDarkMan Alleges Cattle Business Is Being Used to Divert Government Funds

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has alleged that cattle roaming Nigerian cities are being used by some government officials to conceal and divert public funds.

VeryDarkMan made the claim on Tuesday while speaking at the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The activist alleged that some officials were involved in using the cattle business as a means of moving government resources because, he claimed, many Nigerians were unaware of the alleged method.

He argued that the number of cattle seen moving through some Nigerian communities should raise questions about how the animals are financed and owned.

“If you go around our country, you will see cows moving around in the street and will be wondering why so many cows are moving like that,” he said.

VeryDarkMan claimed that cattle could be used to disguise the movement of large sums of money, pointing to the value of livestock as an example. He said a mature cow could sell for about N2 million and used herds of hundreds or thousands of cattle to illustrate how substantial sums could be represented through the livestock business.

“The money that is being stolen from the government by government officials are put in the cow business,” he alleged.

He further claimed that the government’s handling of open cattle grazing was linked to the alleged financial arrangement, saying officials would not insist on ranching because, in his view, the cattle represented an investment.
