Troops Launch Search Operation After Suspected Gunmen Abduct Man in Plateau Community

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have launched search-and-rescue operations following the abduction of a man identified as Victor Yakong in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The victim was reportedly abducted by suspected armed Fulani men at Rangarassang Rantiya in the early hours of Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on X on Wednesday, citing security sources.

According to the report, the attack occurred at about 2:10 am while Yakong and his colleague, identified as Nensemk Yokshak, were attempting to enter their residence.

The sources said troops of Sector 3, Operation Enduring Peace, responded to a report of the abduction and discovered that the two men had been together when the attackers struck.

Yokshak reportedly escaped from the assailants and raised the alarm, prompting a security response.

Troops subsequently joined forces with Keystone personnel to launch search-and-rescue operations in suspected hideouts of the kidnappers.

Efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators and secure Yakong’s safe release.

The incident comes amid continuing security operations in Bassa and other parts of Plateau State aimed at preventing kidnappings and attacks on residents.
