Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim, Foil Ransom Exchange in Kebbi

Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued a kidnapped woman and foiled a planned ransom exchange in Kebbi State.

The operation was carried out after security forces received credible intelligence about the planned transaction involving the woman, who was abducted from her farm last month.

Acting spokesperson for Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Col. Olaniyi Osoba, disclosed the development in a statement, saying troops moved quickly to intercept the kidnappers and prevent the ransom exchange.

Osoba said the kidnappers engaged the troops after spotting their advance. The criminals were, however, overpowered and forced to retreat, abandoning the woman in the process.

The troops subsequently rescued the victim, who was found unharmed. She was taken to safety and later reunited with her family in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of the state.

Following the encounter, the troops searched the route used by the fleeing criminals in an effort to secure the area and prevent further attacks before returning to base.

In a separate operation, troops conducted clearance and dominance patrols in Ngaski Local Government Area without any incident.

Osoba said Operation FANSAN YAMMA would continue its operations against terrorists, kidnappers and other criminal groups in Kebbi State. He also urged residents to provide security agencies with timely and credible information that could help prevent criminal activities and protect communities.
