Troops under Operation Hadarin Daji have launched coordinated responses to a wave of violent attacks across parts of Zamfara State, rescuing victims, recovering property and arresting a suspect in separate incidents.
The operations, which took place on April 12, were reported in a post shared on Monday by security analyst Zagazola Makama, citing security sources familiar with the developments.
In one of the incidents, troops were deployed at about 10:00 a.m. to Danzamau village in Gummi Local Government Area after armed attackers abducted two civilians travelling through the area.
Security personnel later recovered the victims’ vehicle, which was handed over to community leaders, while efforts continued to track the kidnappers.
In a separate attack the same day, armed men struck Tungan Sakki village in Bukuyyum Local Government Area, abducting nine residents.
However, responding troops were reportedly unable to reach the location in time due to a river barrier, allowing the attackers to escape before reinforcement arrived.
Another incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. in Maru town, where gunmen killed one person and abducted two others before fleeing the scene.
Troops, working alongside local vigilantes and nearby military reinforcements, moved into the area shortly after, but the attackers had already withdrawn.
Later the same night, troops responded to a distress call from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Gummi Local Government Area, where three of its personnel were abducted during an operation.
Security sources said troops were able to rescue two of the abducted NDLEA officers, who sustained injuries during the ordeal, while one suspect was arrested in connection with the attack.
The injured victims were immediately taken for medical treatment, while investigations and follow-up operations are ongoing to locate the remaining victims and apprehend the attackers.
Authorities say efforts are being intensified to restore calm and improve security across affected communities in Zamfara, which has continued to experience recurring bandit attacks.
