Court Grants Bail to Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai in ICPC Corruption Case

The Federal High Court has granted bail to former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, who has been in detention over allegations of corruption linked to his time in office.

The development was disclosed on Tuesday by political commentator Imran Wakili in a post on X, shortly after the court ruling.

“Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has been granted bail by the Federal High Court,” Wakili wrote.

El-Rufai has been in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) as part of an ongoing trial over alleged financial misconduct during his tenure as governor of Kaduna State.

While full details of the bail conditions have not yet been made public, the ruling marks a significant development in a case that has drawn wide public and political attention.

The former governor, who also served previously as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is facing scrutiny over allegations tied to his administration in Kaduna, though he has consistently maintained his innocence in public discussions around the case.

Court proceedings are expected to continue as investigators and prosecutors present further arguments in the matter.

More details are expected to emerge as the judiciary releases official documentation on the bail terms and next hearing date.
