Nollywood actress and filmmaker Yvonne Jegede has publicly appealed for the release of social media blogger Justice Crack, describing his continued detention as distressing and unnecessary.
In a video message circulating online, the actress acknowledged that the blogger may have crossed a line, but insisted that the situation has now gone too far and is affecting his family.
“We have come to understand that he has done wrong. We have also come to understand that a civilian should not dabble into military affairs. We accept that,” she said.
Jegede stressed that her appeal is driven by concern for his immediate family, including his wife and children, who she says are now bearing the consequences of his absence.
“I am coming on his behalf, his wife, kids and associates to say please release him back to his family. Please send him back home,” she added.
She further described the situation as “embarrassing,” questioning why the matter has escalated to prolonged detention instead of a quicker resolution.
“It’s becoming embarrassing that this is where we are having to flex muscle,” she said.
Jegede also highlighted the economic strain on families, noting that removing a breadwinner during difficult times can deepen hardship for dependents.
“Times are hard; it is quite unfair and inhumane to take a breadwinner from his family,” she said.
The appeal adds to growing public discussion around the blogger’s detention, with calls for authorities to consider both accountability and humanitarian concerns in resolving the matter.
