2Baba Condemns Benue Killings, Visits Otukpo Community Devastated by Suspected Herdsmen Attack

Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has spoken out against the wave of deadly attacks in Benue State, describing the continued killings in Otukpo Local Government Area as unacceptable and urging stakeholders to take urgent action.

The Benue-born singer visited Otukpo-Nobi on Wednesday to sympathise with residents following the deadly attack allegedly carried out by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen on July 12, 2026. The assault claimed the lives of at least 10 people and left several others injured.

Otukpo and surrounding communities have witnessed repeated violent attacks since the beginning of 2026, with residents raising concerns over growing insecurity and the loss of lives and property.

Speaking during his visit, 2Baba said the persistent bloodshed had reached an alarming level and stressed that Nigerians could no longer remain silent while innocent people continued to die.

“It’s becoming too much now, we can’t pretend anymore. We need to begin planning. It won’t be automatic but there is definitely going to be a solution,” the singer said.

He emphasised that addressing the insecurity would require a united effort from government authorities, community leaders, security agencies and citizens, insisting that lasting peace could only be achieved through collective action.

“It’s not going to be one person, we all need to come together and fight it. I came to sympathise with you all. It’s painful,” he added.

The visit has drawn attention once again to the security challenges facing parts of Benue State, where recurring attacks have continued to claim lives despite repeated calls for stronger security measures and lasting solutions.
