ADC Suspends Presidential Primary Result Collation Over Sallah Celebration, Flight Delays

The African Democratic Congress has temporarily suspended the collation of results from its nationwide presidential primary election, citing Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and logistical challenges affecting returning officers.

The announcement was made late Tuesday night by Ikechi Emenike, who explained that the exercise would resume on Wednesday evening.

According to Emenike, the decision was partly taken to allow Muslim members of the party participate fully in Sallah activities without missing the ongoing electoral process.

He also revealed that some returning officers experienced flight disruptions, making it difficult for them to arrive in Abuja on time for the continuation of the collation exercise.

“We are postponing the collation to allow our brothers and sisters celebrate Sallah, participate in the religious activity and to enable returning officers who had flight challenges to arrive Abuja later today,” Emenike stated.

Before the suspension, results from 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory had already been submitted and announced by party officials.

The states whose results had been collated include Borno, Kebbi, Anambra, Abia, Ekiti, Ondo, Gombe, Oyo, Imo, Yobe, Nasarawa, Enugu, Benue, Osun, Adamawa and Kogi.

Others are Kano, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, Zamfara and the FCT.

Party officials disclosed that results from the remaining 12 states would be collated once the process resumes on Wednesday by 8pm.

The development comes amid rising political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition parties intensifying efforts to reposition themselves and build stronger national structures.

The ADC presidential primary has attracted attention following growing conversations around possible coalition politics and alternative political platforms ahead of the next election cycle.
