Top policymakers, financial experts and business leaders from across Africa have gathered in Abuja for the seventh African Emerging Markets Forum, with discussions focused on strengthening economic resilience amid growing global uncertainties.

The high-level forum, taking place at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) headquarters, brings together key government officials, regulators and private sector stakeholders to explore strategies for sustaining growth despite shifting global economic conditions.

Among those attending the event are CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji. The Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is also expected to participate in the meeting.

This year’s forum is themed “Building Resilience Amidst Geoeconomic Uncertainties,” reflecting growing concerns over global market volatility, geopolitical tensions and their impact on emerging economies across Africa.

Participants are expected to examine ways to strengthen fiscal and monetary policies, attract investment, deepen financial inclusion and position African economies to better withstand external economic shocks.

Delivering the welcome address, the CBN Deputy Governor in charge of Corporate Services, Muhammad Abdullahi, acknowledged the challenges confronting emerging markets but stressed that the current global environment also presents opportunities for stronger economic reforms.

According to Abdullahi, while international market disruptions continue to affect developing economies, policymakers can leverage the situation to implement measures that improve fiscal performance, strengthen monetary policy and drive sustainable economic growth.

The African Emerging Markets Forum serves as a platform for collaboration among governments, financial institutions and industry leaders seeking practical solutions to economic challenges facing the continent.
