Dele Momodu Backs Atiku–Obi Ticket, Says It Could Shake APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Media entrepreneur Dele Momodu has thrown his weight behind a potential presidential alliance between Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, describing it as a strong electoral combination capable of reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of 2027.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Momodu said both opposition figures already share political chemistry from the 2019 elections and could easily mobilise a similar support base if paired again.

He argued that Peter Obi’s strong performance in the last presidential election, where he finished third, showed the existence of a loyal voter bloc that could be consolidated under a joint ticket with Atiku Abubakar.

Momodu maintained that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could benefit from such an alliance, suggesting that the pairing would present a serious challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He added that both politicians appeal to different but overlapping segments of the electorate, making them a potentially “formidable” combination if properly managed.

The media mogul also claimed there is growing unease within the APC over the increasing coordination among opposition leaders under the ADC platform.

According to him, the ruling party is unsettled by the possibility of several major political figures aligning under one structure ahead of the next general election.

Momodu further alleged that internal tensions and strategic moves within the APC reflect concerns about the rising strength of a united opposition front.

He warned that dismissing the emerging political realignments would be a mistake, insisting that Nigeria’s political dynamics are shifting rapidly as 2027 approaches.
