DSS Questions VeryDarkMan Over Leaked Coup Trial Video as Court Orders Investigation

Popular Nigerian social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has confirmed that he was questioned by the Department of State Services (DSS) over a video linked to an ongoing coup plot trial.

The development comes after the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered an investigation into the circulation of restricted court footage that had surfaced on social media despite an existing order limiting its release to the public.

The controversial video formed part of the evidence in the trial of suspects accused of plotting to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The case stems from arrests made in 2024 and remains one of the country’s most closely watched security-related prosecutions.

During court proceedings held on June 23 and June 24, 2026, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Rotimi Oyedepo, informed the court that the restricted footage was being circulated through VeryDarkMan’s social media channels.

The disclosure prompted Justice Joyce Abdulmalik to demand a thorough investigation into how the video left official custody and found its way into the public domain despite judicial restrictions.

Reacting to the development, VeryDarkMan disclosed that he spent several hours at the DSS office answering questions about the footage before he was eventually released.

According to the influencer, the interrogation lasted late into the night, with his release coming in the early hours of the morning.

“I got home around 2 a.m. this morning after spending hours at the DSS office, where I was interrogated and investigated over a video I posted four days ago,” he said.

The DSS has not yet released an official statement on the outcome of the questioning, while attention remains focused on the ongoing court-ordered investigation into the source and circulation of the restricted video.
