Good Health Drives Productivity, Creativity, Sustainable Development – Ex-Imo Deputy Governor Madumere

Former Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, has described good health as the bedrock of education, productivity, creativity and sustainable development, stressing that societies can only thrive when citizens have access to quality healthcare.

Madumere made the remarks while speaking at the Faculty of Health Science Students’ Association (FOHSSA) Free Medical Outreach organised by Imo State University, Owerri. He commended the students for taking healthcare services beyond the classroom and into communities, describing the initiative as a practical example of leadership through service.

The former deputy governor, who is seeking to represent Imo East Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said preventive healthcare programmes such as free medical outreaches play a critical role in reducing the burden of disease through early detection, timely intervention and increased public awareness.

According to the American-trained technocrat, the outreach reflected the true essence of the medical profession, noting that students who dedicate their knowledge and time to improving the lives of others are already demonstrating the qualities of responsible professionals and future leaders.

Madumere also praised the range of services provided during the exercise, including Body Mass Index (BMI) assessment, vital signs checks, HIV screening, eye examinations, blood sugar tests, malaria screening, medical consultations, health education and counselling. He said the intervention would benefit many people who might otherwise have limited access to essential healthcare services.

Encouraging the students to remain committed to academic excellence, professionalism and community service, he said the country needs more young people who combine technical knowledge with compassion and a genuine desire to positively impact society.

The philanthropist also acknowledged the contributions of OCCEEJ Diagnostics, sponsors and other partners whose support made the outreach possible. He noted that stronger collaboration among educational institutions, healthcare providers and public-spirited organisations is essential to improving healthcare delivery across Imo State.

Madumere reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote quality healthcare, youth development and the overall well-being of residents. He added that his Journey of Grace platform has developed strategies aimed at addressing healthcare challenges and improving access to medical services across the state.

Speaking on his political ambition, the former deputy governor expressed confidence in his ability to represent the people of Imo East Senatorial District effectively.

“I have the capacity, acumen and dexterity, coupled with the reach and contact to deliver and speak up for the people. I represent the real deal, as a new Owerri Zone is possible, by the special grace of God,” he said.
