Nigerian media personality and content creator Amarachi Amusi, widely known as Ashmusy, has revealed that she is not under pressure to get married at the age of 30, saying she feels more secure about her future motherhood plans after freezing her eggs.
The influencer made the disclosure during a recent appearance on the Echo Room podcast, where she spoke candidly about marriage expectations, biological pressure, and personal choices around family planning.
Ashmusy explained that although she desires marriage, she is no longer willing to rush into it out of fear of time or societal expectations.
She revealed that she once nearly entered a marriage she knew was not right for her simply because she felt pressured by the “biological clock” narrative and the fear of delaying motherhood.
“I want to get married, but I am not desperate. Just in case the right suitor doesn’t come, I am already safeguarded. I am already sure of being a mom by God’s grace,” she said.
She added that many women rush into marriage too early because of pressure around age and fertility, a decision she believes often leads to unhealthy unions.
“Honestly, most women who rush into marriage early do so because of the myth of the biological clock… With that rush, you now end up getting into the wrong marriage,” she said.
According to her, she almost made that mistake herself, admitting she considered marrying a man she did not see as her ideal partner simply because he was ready to settle down.
“But I don’t have to go through again because I have frozen my eggs,” she explained.
Ashmusy further noted that her decision gives her flexibility for the future, adding that she can consider motherhood in the coming years through medical options without the pressure of immediate marriage.
Her comments have sparked fresh conversations online about marriage pressure, fertility choices, and modern family planning among Nigerian women.
