INEC Announces October 9 Date for PVC Collection Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced October 9 as the start date for the collection of newly issued Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, disclosed the date on Monday in Kaduna during a meeting focused on the commission’s preparations for the upcoming elections.

The announcement comes after three phases of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, which recorded more than 10.7 million new registrations across the country.

However, INEC said the newly registered voters are still subject to biometric verification before their registration process can be fully confirmed.

Amupitan also urged electoral officials to address delays in the distribution of voter cards, particularly at the local government level, to ensure eligible voters can collect their PVCs without unnecessary difficulties.

The commission’s focus on timely distribution is part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, as millions of newly registered voters await their cards.
