A fresh wave of political pressure is building around Nigeria’s emerging opposition landscape as Arise Television anchor, Rufai Oseni, declares he will rigorously interrogate the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and its prospective presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.

Oseni says the party must move beyond political momentum and defections and instead present a clear, detailed governance plan that Nigerians can evaluate.

Speaking on Wednesday, he stressed that the NDC must urgently define its ideology and publish a strong manifesto before settling on a presidential flagbearer.

He argued that public trust will depend not on political alliances but on the clarity and realism of the party’s policy direction.

According to him, he intends to assess the NDC strictly based on how well it explains its economic and governance plans.

“The only challenge I see is on the NDC now to be able to tell us what they’re going to do for the Nigerian people, and that’s what I’m going to scrutinize them based on,” Oseni said.

He added that the party must not rely on unverified claims of popularity, warning that political enthusiasm must be backed by structure and substance.

Oseni also confirmed plans to interview former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, saying the former presidential candidate must be ready to defend detailed policy positions on national issues.

He raised questions around key areas of governance, including foreign exchange management, fuel subsidy policy, welfare systems, and broader social support structures.

“You say you want to change this country and everything, you have to show workings because Nigeria is in dire stress,” he said, stressing the need for practical solutions rather than political slogans.

Oseni warned that he would become one of the strongest critics of the NDC if it fails to present a clear roadmap in the coming days, insisting that Nigeria cannot afford vague political promises.

His remarks add to growing public expectations around emerging political movements, as attention shifts toward how opposition groups intend to challenge the current political order in 2027.
