Former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State to close ranks and work together ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Saraki made the call on Wednesday when he addressed PDP members and supporters at his residence in Ilorin.
According to his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, Saraki appreciated residents of the state for their continued confidence in his leadership and commitment to the development of Kwara.
He also commended party members and aspirants for their sacrifices and maturity, particularly those who accepted the outcome of the party’s internal processes and continued working for the success of the PDP.
Saraki further praised members for welcoming former members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who recently defected to the PDP across various wards and local government areas.
He stressed that the strength of the opposition party depended on its ability to accommodate differences, maintain unity and pursue a common goal.
Some National Assembly candidates who attended the meeting also thanked the party leadership and members for their support.
The candidates pledged their loyalty to the PDP and Saraki’s leadership, promising to work collectively towards the party’s success in the 2027 elections.
The meeting underscored efforts to promote unity and reconciliation within the Kwara PDP as the party intensifies preparations for the next general elections.
