The government of Togo has announced a major policy shift allowing nationals of all African countries to enter the country without a visa for short stays of up to 30 days.

The decision was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement issued by Togo’s Ministry of Security via its official X handle.

According to the ministry, the move is aimed at strengthening African integration, boosting mobility, and encouraging economic and regional cooperation across the continent.

Under the new policy, African nationals holding valid national passports will be eligible for visa-free entry into Togo for stays not exceeding 30 days.

“Togo takes a historic step in strengthening African integration,” the ministry said, adding that the reform reflects the government’s commitment to making the country a hub of openness and opportunity.

However, travellers are still required to complete an online travel declaration at least 24 hours before arrival to obtain a travel slip before entry.

The government emphasized that the policy is part of broader efforts to ease movement within Africa and strengthen diplomatic and economic ties among member states.

The development aligns with similar visa-free initiatives by countries like Rwanda, which has also expanded entry access for African travellers.

In response to growing regional mobility reforms, Nigeria has also begun implementing a 30-day visa exemption policy for Rwandan nationals entering the country.

The latest move positions Togo among a growing number of African nations pushing for freer movement across borders as part of continental integration efforts.
