UCL: Torreira as Important as Osimhen for Galatasaray — Nihat Kahveci

Lucas Torreira’s importance to Galatasaray has been compared to that of Victor Osimhen by former Beşiktaş and Villarreal forward Nihat Kahveci.

Kahveci made the claim after Galatasaray suffered a 3-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

Speaking on the Kontraspor YouTube channel, the former Turkey international argued that Torreira remains one of Galatasaray’s most influential players and should be treated with the same importance as Osimhen.

“Lucas Torreira is at least as important as Osimhen at Galatasaray,” Kahveci said.

“He proved that again. Sign Torreira along with Osimhen, and treat them with the utmost care,” he added.

Osimhen was unavailable for the Champions League clash against Sporting Lisbon as the Nigeria international continues his recovery from a groin injury.

The striker has been an important figure for Galatasaray, while Torreira continues to play a key role in the club’s midfield.

Galatasaray will now turn their attention to the Turkish Super Lig, with Kocaelispor next on the schedule on Sunday.
